Registration opens for Kashi Tamil Sangamam 5.0

The Ministry of Education announced on 22 October 2026 the launch of the registration portal for the fifth edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS 5.0). The programme, themed Thirukkural Payilvom  Thirukkural Abhyas Karen, aims to promote the ethical wisdom of the classical Tamil text Thirukkural among youth and learners.

DRI seizes 137 kg of crystal meth and arrests 4 in Tamil Nadu

The Ministry of Finance announced on 18 October 2026 that the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 137 kg of crystal methamphetamine in Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. The operation, conducted between 16 and 17 October 2026, dismantled a network attempting to smuggle the drugs to Sri Lanka via mid-sea transfer.

APEDA facilitates first export of organic Palmyra Jaggery Powder to Bulgaria

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) announced on 16 October 2026 that it facilitated the first export of 1.755 MT of organic Palmyra Jaggery Powder from Tamil Nadu to Bulgaria on 15 October 2026. This initiative, involving 137 acres of organic cultivation, aims to diversify India's organic exports and provide better market access for traditional products.
