Ministry details support for senior citizens under Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment announced on 23 October 2026 the current status of the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY). The scheme provides grant-in-aid to NGOs and local bodies to maintain care facilities, currently supporting 764 Senior Citizen Homes, 13 Continuous Care Homes, 17 Mobile Medicare Units, and 3 Physiotherapy Clinics.

Cabinet approves Rs 53,428 crore for Pradhan Mantri Samajik Sahayata Yojana

The Union Cabinet announced on 22 October 2026 that it has approved the continuation of the National Social Assistance Programme, now renamed as Pradhan Mantri Samajik Sahayata Yojana, for five years from 2026-27 to 2030-31 with an outlay of Rs 53,428 crore. The scheme provides monthly pensions to the elderly, widows, and persons with disabilities, as well as a one-time family benefit, for households below the poverty line.

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) announced on 17 October 2026 the conclusion of KAUMARACON 2026, a three-day international conference focused on advancing Ayurvedic child healthcare. SECL launches digital portals for healthcare and pension services

The Ministry of Coal announced on 16 October 2026 that South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) is improving service delivery through two digital platforms. The Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) digitizes patient records and medical reimbursement claims, while the PPO/Jeevan Pramaan Patra Portal allows retirees and their spouses to download pension documents and submit Life Certificates online.
