The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) announced on 28 October 2026 the results of independent drive tests conducted in September 2026. These tests assessed the real-time voice and data quality of mobile network providers in Gonda, Bahraich, Shravasti, and Balrampur cities, as well as highways between Prayagraj, Gonda, and Bahraich. The findings, which include data on coverage gaps, dropped calls, and internet speeds, are intended to inform consumers and encourage providers to improve their services. The tests took place between 7 September and 10 September 2026.
Key points
- Tests covered 367.7 km in cities, 256 km on highways, and 2.7 km of walk tests.
- Assessed parameters include coverage gaps, call setup success, drop call rates, and data throughput.
- Average download speeds in Gonda City ranged from 1.15 Mbps (BSNL 4G) to 167.44 Mbps (RJIL 5G).
- Coverage gaps were measured as samples with signal strength below the minimum prescribed level.
